I feel that for the product as a whole we did a good job. There were times where we could have been more productive and worked more efficiently. That happens with any group or projects. It was more of a real world project feel. We pulled together form a good product and presentation. Everyone contributed to the project I did research on the technology for product. I should have put more information about the technology and how it would work and relate to Coleman. I also worked on the 3D modeling of the products I believe that they turned out and helped show what the product would be.

Week 10 Class Review

I have really enjoyed this class. This class has opened my eyes for what goes in to the design process. The way that Gabe lead the class was fresh and energetic. He introduced me to new forms of communication that I can use not only for design but also other class. I wish I could have Gabe for a teacher again for other classes. I think that other professors and teachers could learn a lot from the way Gabe teaches.

Group 3

We finalized everything and we are all happy with the finished product. The team has worked very well together. We haven't had any major conflicts and everyone has contributed an equal amount. As far as my contribution, I ended up focusing mainly on the technology and 3D modeling. The technology and 3D modeling was fun for me because I am wanting to go in to ID so it was great practice. Here are some images of the models that I did and the scan draft of the kiosk
I believe that we will have a good presentation I know everyone has been working hard to get this done and make a good product.

Ch 9-10

I never thought that clients or employers really such an important role in design. They really put most the constraints on the project that designers are working on. So if a designer doesn't design thing that fit fix what then client or employer does then it is pointless and the designer will loose. Designs have to fit what a company makes or know for. If a company want to change in to another field that what is normally does than it is better to make a slow shift to the new market. So that the companies name stays in contact and expands to the future market. It is a balance where it comes from and where it is going to.

I think this is a cool project idea to introduce the design process to everyone. What thing of the Coleman brand or relate to them. We talked about who we are looking for to buy the product. We have been brainstorming different thing that we could make. Ideas such as: heater, fire pits, air purifiers, dehumidifiers, and deodorizer.
I thought of making a storage locker that combines the deodorizer and dehumidifier. It would be used for gear, shoes, and even wet gear. I also started researching way to deodorize and dehumidify. I think that we as a group will have to put it sometime out of class to get a good finished project.

Week 7 Class Review

This week was really fun. I enjoyed hearing what the guest speakers had to say. They inspired me to work even harder on getting in to the the design program next year. I think it is really cool that they formed a company just out of college. I also am planning on getting in to the design groups here on campus. This was a great week to re-inspire the class after having the few classes over legal issues.

So what is a home good? A home good is a product that a consumer can use or show off. It can show the persons personality.

Here are a few images to showing home goods. The two on the right are ones that I made.

Design and the environment

Design and the environment is where sustainability comes to play. Sustainability is what we need to strive for as when we are designing and planning anything in the world. Sustainability can also be know as Eco-friendly or Green to an extent. Sustainability is need to further are life on earth because if we keep on the path we are on we will kill the earth.

Gray to Green talk about why sustainability is important to re propose materials. Reusing trash from one thing to be used or built in to something else.

Deeper Shade of Green get in to how sustainability is no just one person or group of people. It take the society to change. Start sustainability in the developing countries and the rest will fallow. The factors that play a roll in sustainable designs.

Greening the Federal Government we have to keep building and advancing our technology. While making them more efficient. We may have to learn how to use and understand these advances.

Architecture 2030 is a global challenge that is for everyone and everything being built no matter what industry. This challenge is to decrease the carbon foot print and by 2030 have carbon neutral buildings. There are low tech and high tech was to do this and if you have to buy energy buy renewable resource energy. Tax breaks should increase for building and renovation greenly.

The Green Apple cities greener than living in the country. People more or take public transportation. Recycling helps some but also makes problems.

All of this are podcast the full length episodes are even more in-depth and intriguing.

Cradle to Cradle Ch.1 and 2

Chapter 1 I was as were we are now and how we came to be in this situation. That as a society we don't care about the environment as much as we should because we are only concerned with the here and now not the future. The assignment that was given in the chapter was really a great was to show that we don't think past the moment as the society.
Chapter 2 brought up some issues about recycling that had never thought about. I always thought that recycling was a good thing and didn't add more pollutants to the products. I wonder if there is a way to reduce the pollutants add to the materials being recycled. Also if there could be a way to separate the materials more before recycling so that the materials are as pure as possible.

Week 6 Class Review

This week was fun. The video was very informative about copyright laws and interesting to watch. It made me think about all the products that I have used with permission. It made me think about in the future when I design product how would I protect them. The CC is a great idea I hope it work. It has the ability to change every thing in the way the world works.

RR05

The book Cradle to Cradle in the Introduction under the section Toward a New Industrial Revolution. McDonough raises major questions about enivormental issues. Issue that effect everyone and bought up the idea of limit are consumption. This made me think about how much I through away that could be recyled. And was that I could change my self to help the environment. I am now going to try to recyle more and us reusable bottles for drinks and try to cut the amount of trash I produce each each day. I would like to try to cut at least one or two ideas out of my daily trash to try to help. And in the future design products that cut down on waste.
